MELANIN & MATERNAL WELLNESS
A.S.È. Birth Village
Affirming Safe & Equitable Birth
A.S.È. Birth Village is a collective of Black voices, bonded by our distinctive paths to, through and in support of motherhood. Through education and action, we are “front line” advocates and activists striving to achieve health equity for Black mothers and babies.
We advocate for, equitable funding for Black, culturally-congruent, community-aligned maternal health resources, and support pro-Black health equity legislation, and anti-racist medical protocols and policies, to ensure high quality and uncompromising medical care, as a means to combat the disproportionality of the disparities in maternal health, including black maternal morbidity, mortality, and preterm birth.

Salvation and Social Justice
Salvation and Social Justice seeks to liberate public policy theologically by modeling the hope and resiliency of Black faith; where historically marginalized people move from lament to liberation by envisioning and creating their own community led solutions to a structurally racist society.
